actually i do just about remember this happening in poplar, which was overwhelmingly council houses.
go round there now and the place is totally bangladeshi.
guess it all starts with the 'welcome party', then the immigrant group organises and elects its own, who then puts all council policy settings in favour of that group, as was seen with that crook rahman.

Most of Tower Hamlets WAS tenants when this happened Gavlar hence there's been a regular place for migration into there. On this occasion and prior to home ownership being available to the masses people had to rely on getting a Council place this led to a priority list happening one which Trev Phillips pointed out as he did his program on the fact most the indigenous had gone years previously and only a rabble left (like yourself) were there to point out and he then investigated.
It happened except you are too young a skinny jeaned to remember and you have the sheep gene so wouldn't have thought further than the next trend.

Funny you should state that Council, seeing it was Councils that made the indigenous last in the queue for homes in certain areas of London and especially East, hence a forced exodus out of deprived areas of London.
Hard to make a stand against it and there's an outcry about it happening AGAIN, but now it's called gentrification and not deemed racist to moan about it.
See Trevor Phillips program about it, where he even comes to the conclusion there was justified disgruntlement in the way people were forced outwards.

That's interesting Gavros. I grew up in modern Middlesex and just looked up that it used to reach over to Essex. I didn't know that used to be the case.

1. Newham didnt exist when West Ham was formed.
2. Strictly speaking, it was formed at the TIW offices, which were on the Middlesex side of the river Lea, in what was then the Metropolitan Borough of Poplar.
